Alfonso “Poncho” Juarez Sr., 75, of Lubbock, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Visitation will be held Friday, September 8, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Broadway Funeral Directors. Funeral services for will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2017 in The Chapel at Broadway Funeral Directors with Rev. Ed Cena officiating.
Alfonso was born June 12, 1942, in Ojinaga, Mexico to the late Julio and Trinidad Juarez. He worked as a cowboy for various ranches in the Big Bend area for years. He married Maria Gonzales in Mexico, she preceded him in death in February 2000. He was a true cowboy at heart; and loved the outdoors. He loved to dance, play pool, and helping others.
He is preceded in death by his parents, spouse, and son Arturo Juarez.
He is survived by three sons; Alfonso Juarez Jr., Luis Juarez and spouse Andrea of Lubbock, Raul Juarez and spouse Christy of Cibolo, TX, three daughters; Dora Licon and spouse Federico of Ojinaga, Mexico, Patricia Andrade and spouse Fernando, Mari Gomez and spouse Tony all of Lubbock; three brothers Edmundo Juarez of Odessa, Ramiro Juarez of Ojinaga, Jose Dolores Juarez of Juarez; and one sister Graciela Molina of Ojinaga; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
