Anita S Atkinson

October 11, 1942 — March 30, 2025

Lubbock

Anita S. Atkinson, a beloved matriarch, left this world on March 30, 2025, in her hometown of Lubbock, Texas. Born on October 11, 1942, to Santos & Cresencia Salazar, Anita lived a life that was a testament to her deep faith and unwavering love for her family. She married Albert Atkinson on April 19, 1987, and together would leave a legacy that would inspire anyone.

Anita was a devoted Christian who cherished her relationship with the Lord. Her faith influenced every aspect of her life, serving as a source of strength and guidance throughout her journey. She was not only a pillar of faith but also a nurturing presence, known for her kind heart and generous spirit.

Anita found great joy in life's simple pleasures. She had a passion for knitting, transforming strands of yarn into cherished heirlooms that warmed the hearts of her loved ones. Her green thumb flourished in her garden, where she nurtured plants with the same love and care she gave to her family. In the kitchen, she delighted many with her culinary creations, especially her famous tamales, which became a staple at family gatherings.

Family was everything to Anita. She dedicated her life to building a legacy of love and support, always finding joy in the company of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of thirty-eight years, Albert Atkinson; four sons and their wives: Ramon & Velma Garcia, Raul Garcia, Jose and Lisa Garcia, Santos & Ruby Garcia and one sister, Concha Acevedo. Anita's family tree flourished under her loving care, with twenty-three grandchildren, sixty-two great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward the love and values she instilled in them.

She was preceded in death by her cherished son, Ricardo Garcia, and her dear sisters, Mine Mejia and Mimi Salazar. Their memories remain a guiding light, reminding her family of the time they shared and the love that will never fade.

The family invites you to celebrate her life during visitation on April 1, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 7:00 PM and a prayer service at 7:00 PM in The Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors.
