Carolyn Gunter

Carolyn B. Gunter, 90, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in Lubbock, TX. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Broadway Funeral Directors. Graveside services for Mrs. Gunter will be 3:30 pm Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Resthaven Memorial Park. A memorial service and reception at 4:30 pm at First Christian Church Chapel (2323 Broadway St). Everyone is invited to attend.

Carolyn was born August 25, 1927 to Wylie & Avis Ann Boyle.  She was married to Billy Carl Gunter in 1954, after receiving her Bachelors in Music from Texas Women’s University in Denton and her Masters in Music from the University of Texas. She taught music, choir, and band for many schools and churches throughout her lifetime, as well as private piano lessons for over thirty years. More than music, Carolyn loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Wylie Gunter of Lubbock, TX; two grandchildren, Heather M. Jones, Jason D. Gunter both of Lubbock, TX; two great grandchildren, Tristan A Jones, Helo D. Jones both of Lubbock, TX.

​She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Carl Gunter; a son, William Carl Gunter (aka:Michael Star); and a sister, Avis Ann Smith.
