Delia M Garcia, 73, a beloved member of the Lubbock community, passed away on May 25, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. She was known for her kind and generous spirit, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of knowing. She was born on November 2, 1950, in Slaton, TX, to Antonio and Jesusa Martinez. She married Frank Garcia in 1963 in Lubbock, TX. and after leaving Coca-Cola where she worked as a line inspector, Delia and her husband owned and operated Garcia's Burritos for over 15 years. Their dedication to their food and the love they poured into the business made their burritos a favorite among the community.
In addition to her successful career, Delia had a variety of hobbies and interests that brought her joy. She loved crafting, creating beautiful flower arrangements and wreaths. Her passion for event planning shone through in every gathering she attended or organized. Delia also enjoyed traveling and cherished time spent with family at gatherings.
She is survived by four sons and their wives: Frank & Mary Lou Garcia, Sammy and Dora Lynn Garcia both of Lubbock, Tommy and Marivel Garcia of Austin, Joseph Torres of Slaton; two daughters: Lori and Gilbert Gonzalez of Lubbock, Sonya and Jonathan Escobar of Slaton; one brother: Ezequiel Martinez of Lubbock; two sisters: Antonia Rivera, Leonora Andrade both of Lubbock; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Garcia (1997); her son, Sonny Garcia; one daughter, Patsy Garcia; two brothers: David Martinez, Manuel Martinez; one sister: Senaida Martinez; and one grandson, Joangel Torres.
Services to honor Delia's life will be 10:00 am Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Martin Pina officiating. Burial will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors. A rosary will be held 7:00 pm Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in The Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors with visitation starting at 1:00 pm.
