Rosary for Eleanor G. Maldonado 67 of Lubbock will be today at 7 PM at The Broadway Funeral Directors Chapel. A Celebration of Funeral mass will be on Monday at 10 AM at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church with Father Emiliano Zapata officiating and Monsignor Jim O'Connor assisting. Burial will be in The City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of The Broadway Funeral Directors.
Eleanor went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 7, 2016. She was born on June 6, 1948 in Brighton, Colorado to the late Ricardo and Magdalena Garcia. She married Richard T. Maldonado in 1990 in Lubbock. She was a housewife. She moved to Lubbock in 1990 from Tahoka. Eleanor was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church and was a active Eucharistic Minister. She was known for her cooking, never letting anyone leave her home hungry. She loved to garden which everyone knew she had a green thumb. She enjoyed to travel with her family and often taking trips to Colorado where she loved to be outdoors. She loved to watch western movies, Gun Smoke was her favorite. She was always there to listen and give advice to her children no matter the time nor day.
She is preceded in death by a grandson Vincent Scott Calvillo in 1993.
Survivors include her husband Richard Maldonado of Lubbock, two sons, Chris Perez (JoAnn Saldana) and Ricardo Maldonado (Ana Maria Maldonado) of Euless, a daughter Vanessa Perez (Shelby Lindsey) of Lubbock, five sisters Delia Barrera, Kathy Cantu, Slyvia Acosta and Gail Garcia all of Lubbock, Eva Cervantes of Lamesa, two granddaughters Chelsea A. Calvillo of Lubbock, Isabella Maldonado of Euless and a grandson J. Cameron Calvillo of Lubbock.
