Joe “Bubba” Robinette, 68 of Lubbock and formerly of Colorado City, passed away October 27, 2015 in Lubbock. Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors of Lubbock.
Joe was born February 2, 1947 in Laredo, TX to the late V.O. and Lucille Robinette. He graduated from Mirando City High School; and completed both undergraduate and graduate degrees at Sul Ross University in Alpine. He married Betty Brady on Jan. 19, 1966 in Alpine. In 1972, he moved to Colorado City and made it his home for forty-three years. In April 2015 he moved to Lubbock. He was a park superintendent with Texas Parks and Wildlife, worked in the oilfield, and taught high school science in Hobbs, Texas. He was a big man who lived his life in a big way. He was an avid birdwatcher and loved reading and photography. He enjoyed cooking, especially grilling and trying new recipes. His curious mind was always intrigued by the latest technology as it became available.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of Lubbock; two sons Brady and wife Terri of Lubbock; Billy Joe and wife Aly of Alamogordo, NM and five grandchildren.
