On April 12, 2024, the world lost a bright light with the passing of Katherine Sally Veal in Lubbock. Born on October 26, 1928, in Alabama, Katherine led a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. She was married to the late Jimmy Veal Sr. for over 50 years and found joy and contentment in various hobbies and interests. She was known for her passion for sewing and cooking - a true queen of the kitchen whose culinary creations brought smiles to many faces. Her love for gardening manifested in her beautiful flowers, with a special fondness for her prized tomatoes. In her leisure time, Katherine enjoyed the serenity of fishing and the thrill of visiting casinos. Her impeccable style was complemented by her never-ending grace as she never left her home without adorning her makeup. Above all, Katherine found solace in her faith, cherishing God's presence and finding peace in the uplifting melodies of gospel music.
In the hearts of those who knew her best, Katherine leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will be forever cherished. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy Veal Sr., her daughter Sharlene Mercer, as well as two siblings, Don Robinson and Eunice Wilson.
Katherine's spirit lives on through her surviving family members who meant the world to her. She is survived by her loving son, Jimmy Veal and wife Robin, devoted daughter, Virginia Altman, caring brother, Gene Robinson, supportive sisters, Molly Watkins and Theoda Wilkinson. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who were blessed to have known such a remarkable woman.
A Memorial Service to honor Katherine's life will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, April 19, 2024, in the Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors with Pastor Ricky Ward officiating.
