Guadalupe (Lupio) Torrez Jr. was born in Lubbock, TX on May 17, 1951, to Ignacia Rivera Torrez and Guadalupe Torrez Sr. He passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024, surrounded by the family he loved.
Lupe married Gloria Martinez on May 16, 1992, in Lubbock and retired after 23 years of dedicated service from the City of Lubbock/Lubbock Memorial Civic Center as an Operation Foreman. Additionally, Lupe owned and operated LG&J Lawn Service with his grandson Julian. Throughout his life, he continued to be a devout Catholic and was a faithful member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Lupe enjoyed spending time with his family. He coached at Northwest Little League with his brother Edward (Eddie) Torrez. He enjoyed watching sports and traveling with his wife to the casino.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Ann Valdez and brother Eddie Torrez.
Lupe is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Gloria Martinez Torrez; his children Jaimy C. Torrez (Stacey), SgtMaj (Ret) Don Jacob Hernandez (Rebekah), Jesse Hernandez (Vanessa), Prisca Marie Hernandez-Prince (Ryan), Crystal Sulaica (Michael), Joshua Torrez (Jackie); and his grandchildren, Christopher, Julian, Alicia, Jason, Gavin, Lilliana, Jonathan, Jesus, Emilia, Luciana and Jordan.
He is also survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Torrez, Patsy Torrez, Susan Mills; four brothers, David Torrez, Danny Torrez, Alfredo Torrez and John Paul Torrez, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Torrez will be 2:00 pm Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Rudy Crasta officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors. A rosary will be held in honor of Mr. Torres at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, September 4, 2024, in The Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors with visitation starting at 12:00 pm.
