Margaret Balios

Funeral services celebrating the life Margaret Balios, 78 of Lubbock will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in St. John’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kara Wischmeyer officiating.  Interment will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Balios passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 in Lubbock.  She was born December 7, 1939 in Adrian, TX to the late James Frank and Alma Dunn.  She graduated from Floydada High School and married J.A. “Tony” Balios, March 4, 1961 in Lubbock.  They lived in Amarillo briefly after marrying and later moved to Lubbock where they made their home and raised their family.  She loved gardening, reading sewing and although she couldn’t swim, she loved to waterski.  She especially loved her family and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on April 30, 2011.  Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Jay A. Balios, Jr. of Lubbock; daughters, Angela Witt (James) of Lubbock, Jacinda Balios of S. Grafton, MA, Melissa Corbitt (Mike) of Boiling Springs, SC; brothers Jimmie Dunn of Lubbock, Joe Dunn of San Angelo; one sister Mary Parks of Victor, MT; four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 6-8 in the evening. The family suggests memorials to The Lubbock State School Family Association, P.O. Box 5396, Lubbock, TX 79408.
