Maria De La Luz G. Nava, 92, was born June 25, 1928 in Zapata, Texas to Jose & Margarita Guzman. She married Rafael Nava Sr. on December 26, 1942 in Zapata and was a home maker. Maria was incredibly involved in the catholic church and was very active as a Guadalupana & Cursillista for Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing quilts, clothes, cooking and caring for her family. She was known for her Pan Dulce and she made sure to pass on her skills to her daughters. More than anything, Maria loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
In the early morning of January 14, 2021, Maria De La Luz Nava went to be with her Lord and savior. Those left to cherish her memories are her two sons, Rafael “Ralph” & Amelia Nava, Roberto & Helen Nava all of Petersburg; four daughters, Eva Villarreal of San Antonio, Manuela & Joe Hernandez of Parker, AZ, Margarita & Frank Ocompo of Parker, Rachel & Victor Huizar of Lubbock; one brother, Joe Guzman of Bakersfield, CA and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren
She is preceded in death by one son, Ramiro Nava (1996), one daughter, Elva Robles (1997)
Graveside services for Mrs. Nava will be 11:00 am Monday, January 18, 2021 in Lorenzo Cemetery with Father Ernesto Lopez officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday, January 17, 2021 in The Chapel of Broadway Funeral Directors with a rosary starting at 6:00 pm. All arrangements were made under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors.
