Verlin Lee Anglin, 88 passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 in Lubbock. Services for Mr Anglin will be 2:00 pm Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in New Deal with Pastor Dan Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Broadway Funeral Directors. A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018 starting at 6:00 at Broadway Funeral Directors.
Verlin was born March 21, 1929 to Maude Lou and Henry Clay Anglin. After graduating New Deal High School, Verlin served in the Army and later married Barbara Jo Smith on May 7 th , 1954 in Hobbs, New Mexico. After her passing in 1994, he later married Betty Waren on March 5, 1995 in New Deal.
Verlin enjoyed traveling, fishing in Lake Stamford and Lake Kemp. He was a Gideon and a deacon at First Baptist Church New Deal and served on the School Board of New Deal and volunteered in the jail ministry.
Verlin was survived by his wife, Betty Anglin of Lubbock, five daughters, Wydonna Stephenson, Connie Scarbrough & husband Skip, Staci Jewell & husband Billy all of Lubbock, Lisa Pool of Seminole, Juanita Warner and two stepdaughters, Linda Sisk & husband Bruce, and Michelle Manning & husband William ; one brother, Horace Anglin of Lubbock; twenty-nine grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first spouse, Barbara Jo, one son, James Verlin, granddaughter Amy Scarbrough, brothers, John Anglin, Truman Anglin, H.C. Anglin; sisters. Edna Wages, Faye Whittle and Opal Brack.
