ALBERT WAYLAND FAULKENBERRY PASSED FROM THIS LIFE ON SEPTEMBER 28 @ 5:22 AM AT THE CALLENDAR HOUSE PHOENIX IN LUBBOCK TEXAS. WAYLAND LIVED IN FLOYDADA PRIOR TO HIS DEATH.
WAYLAND BEGAN HIS SCHOOL CAREER IN THE BLANCO COMMUNITY AND GRADUATED FROM FLOYDADA HIGH SCHOOL IN 1946. HE IS A VETERAN OF THE US ARMY, ANSWERING THE CALL IN DECEMBER 1953. HE SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 2 YEARS AND WAS STATIONED AT FORT RUCKER IN MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA. WAYLAND WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED AND WHILE HE WAS IN THE SERVICE, HE RECEIVED THE NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL. AFTER HIS RELEASE FROM ACTIVE MILITARY SERVICE, WAYLAND WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE ARMY RESERVE WHERE HE COMPLETED 8 YEARS.
WAYLAND IS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, FAUNCE AND PAULINE WISE FAULKENBERRY AND ONE BROTHER, SCOTT FAULKENBERRY. HE IS SURVIVED BY TWO SONS MARTY FAULKENBERRY OF LUBBOCK, TED AND WIFE WENDY FAULKENBERRY, OF MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA, ONE GRANDSON, RYAN AND ONE GRANDDAUGHTER, BRITTANY, ONE BROTHER DON FAULKENBERRY OF FLOYDADA AND A SISTER, FREIDA WENONA BROOKS OF PADUCAH AND A HOST OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
WAYLAND WAS A MEMBER OF THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF FLOYDADA. CELEBRATION OF LIFE WILL BE AT THE MASSIE ACTIVITY CENTER IN FLOYDADA, TX ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 14 AT 10:30 AM.
